He worked for 1.5 years on his daughter’s room. You won’t believe the result!

Just about every child dreams of having a tree house. A magic, parent-free place just for them to spend hours in, daydreaming away. It was the same for this little girl. But this time, her wish was her dad’s command! He posted the results of his work on Imgur.

“My daughter wanted a fairy fort in her room where she could sit and read. She wanted to climb on the branches and sit in them,” said the father, who works in the video gameindustry and thus has a healthy creative streak. This is a before shot of her room. Kind of boring, right?

It all began with a rough sketch. The dad had no idea what it would grow into over the next few months. In the end does the tree cost him nearly $4,500 and 350 hours of work. That’s 15 days if he would’ve worked straight through.

But since he still had to work his normal job, building only on evenings and weekends, the project took almost 18 months. After his first sketches, he made a miniature modelat a 1:12 scale. After all, he needed to carefully plan how this dream could become a reality.

Everything had to be clearly marked on the floor and walls. It’s not so easy when it’s full-size.

Then came the hardest part: Building a iron skeleton. First, dad had to go to a welding course. Since his little one wanted to climb in the branches, they had to be really strong. He tested each of them by hanging on them himself, that way nothing could go awry.

Then, he covered the skeleton with a fine wire mesh to make sure the future bark had something to grab onto. Dad has already spent over 100 hours working on the tree at this point.

The first round of bark was a massive layer of concrete. He asked an expert in fire safetyabout the best materials to use since he didn’t want something highly-flammable in his daughter’s room.

The highest branches got covered in layers of papier-mâché. Finally the tree is ready to be painted!

The tree was lovingly given a deceivingly real-looking texture. There is even moss growing on it.

Several thousand dollars and countless buckets of sweat later, the tree stands tall. See how happy she looks, sitting in her cozy green cave?

There are many surprises tucked away in the branches. Including some birds who have made themselves at home.

And butterflies of course – they are a must in fairy wonderland.

Although there are no real fairies behind these tiny doors, warm light gives them a magical feeling.

Hundreds of lights decorate the branches like twinkling stars. Is there anything that this tree doesn’t have?

And the final test: she can sit in the tree! This beaming face is payment enough for this creative dad.

The fairy fort is complete. Her dad should be drowned in hugs and kisses.

If there were a contest for Dad of the Year, this man would win by a landslide. It seems impossible that anyone could ever get enough of the charming details sprinkled among thebranches. But dad does have one fear, “when she turns 13 she’ll want the tree out of her room.” I can wait and when that day comes, he can move it to my place!
