Celine Dion Says ‘Leave me Alone’ After Being Body Shamed For New, Slimmer Look

Singer Celine Dion has slammed critics about her weight, highlighting that she feels “sexier” than ever following a picture of her at Paris Fashion Week looking too skinny which has been circulated online. In an interview on Tuesday, Dion addressed recent critiques of her big weight loss and new figure.

Dion posted a picture of herself to her Instagram from Paris Fashion Week, where she is pictured leaning against a wall in a metallic suit. Fans immediately noticed her slender frame, with one user commenting, “this is not a good picture of you makes you look old and way too skinny.”

The 50-year-old singer urged her fans to stop body-shaming her. “I’m doing this for me,” she said of her new look. “I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine, and sexy.” As for what other people have to say about it, Dion said, “if you don’t [like it], leave me alone.”

In her interview Dion also addressed the long-standing rumors about her alleged relationship with background dancer Pepe Munoz. Once again, Dion denied the reports, claiming Munoz is simply her “best friend” and affirming that she remains single. It has been three years since her husband and manager, Rene Angelil, died from cancer in January of 2016.

Dion added that she’s okay with people thinking that Munoz is her boyfriend. “We’re friends, we’re best friends,” she explained. “Of course we hug and hold hands and go out, so people see that. I mean, he’s a gentleman. He’s giving me his hand to go out,” she said. “I don’t mind because he’s handsome and he’s my best friend.”

Dion also took the opportunity to post a video announcing an upcoming visit to the U.K., the first performance she will be doing since announcing the end of her Las Vegas residency Celine, set to end in June of 2019.

Her comments come after she launched a gender neutral clothing line for children called Celinununu last year, which she created in order to give children a “chance to feel free to find their own individuality”.

It’s not that we’re hoping to shift gender norms with Celinununu,” she said.

I think that every child needs to have their own identity, to express themselves freely, and to not feel like they have to be like someone else.

Celine – who has three sons, eight-year-old fraternal twins Nelson and Eddy and 17-year-old René, with her late husband René Angélil – even says her twins love the items in the range.

My oldest son is 17, so no it’s not for him. Eddy and Nelson just turned eight and even though they’re twins, they are very different from each other. Both wear the line and they both think it’s great.
