I don’t know about y’all, but it’s been a while since we’ve talked about the lavish lifestyles of the Obamas, and I think we’re due. I mean, there’s been SOOOOOO much talk out here about the Trumps and the Rubios and Hillionaire and I miss talking about how much of my hard-earned money the Obamas have wasted over the better part of the past decade.
It’s Tuesday. Let’s do that, shall we?
If y’all missed it back in February, Russian television did a number trashing the Obamas and how much money they’ve spent of ours. It gave us this gem:
“The 44th American president goes on vacation twice a year—in the summer and during Christmas. Over the seven years of his presidency, American taxpayers spent between $10 million and $74 million a year on vacations for the first American family. To understand how such unbelievable expenses accumulate, the cost for only the plane and the bodyguards when Mr. Obama flew his family to Hawaii, in 2014, was $5,316,000.”
Chump change, y’all. Emphasis on the CHUMP.
It amuses me when reporters would give Marco Rubio crap for his “luxury yacht,” when, in fact, it was actually an $80,000 speedboat that he bought after getting an $800,000 book advance. That he earned himself. From the private sector…money that didn’t have to do with money I as a taxpayer was giving him in any way, shape or form.
Yet those same “reporters” don’t give a rat’s behind about the lavish vacations the Obamas take on their dime. It’s just interesting to me, is all. You know, the hypocrisy of that.
I think they call that liberalism.
Anywho, let’s talk about the First Daughters’ clothing at the latest State Dinner. Oh, the clothing. We’re all supposed to think back to the days of Jackie Kennedy when we think of the Obamas, right? So naturally, we can’t have them dressing like they just stepped out of a store that one of us normal, everyday Americans would shop in, especially since this is a man that campaigned on the premise that he’s a man of the people.
The First Daughters should also enjoy the same kind of lavish lifestyle that their parents have enjoyed at the expense of the American taxpayer, and at their debut State Dinner, they both wore dresses worth about 20 grand a piece. Because that’s what YOUR teenage daughters do, right?
According to the source article:
Malia, 17, who was seated next to Saturday Night Live’s Lorne Michaels and actress Sandra Oh, wore a strapless faille gown with crystal beading from the pre-fall 2015 collection. The 100 percent silk piece is no longer available for purchase, but it originally retailed for $17,990. The embellished piece didn’t need any more bling, so she went without jewelry. Malia blew out her hair in loose waves and had a subtle cat eye and nude lips.
While Malia went for a more classic, elegant look, her younger sister added a young, fresh flair. Also in Naeem Khan, Sasha chose a look from the Indian-American designer’s resort 2016 collection, a gown embroidered with allover threadwork, beading, and appliqué, accentuated by a fitted bodice and ball skirt. The 14-year-old complemented the red, black, and sheer piece, which retails for $19,990, by styling her hair in Dutch braids and tying a thin ribbon around her neck as a choker.
Now, it has been said that the First Lady pays for her own clothes, but we all know that most of her designer stuff is given to her. And we all know that these dresses were probably given to the First Daughters. With that said, it would be nice for teenagers to show other teenagers that it’s OK to wear a dress from, say, Nordstrom? Macys? Or dare I say it, Forever 21?
Why not? I mean, these are people of the people, right?
I mean, I thought that Republicans were the rich, spoiled, stuffy ones who are out of touch with the common folks…
Mmmm hmmm. You just keep on telling yourselves that, Democrats.
And we’ll be over here, going to work every day, twelve hours a day, paying the freaking bills.
President’s daughters and celebrity friends – THEY’RE JUST LIKE US!
